Birthday Sleepover Part 1

Because Hailey is still making friends here we didn't have an official friend party like she wanted. So I decided she could have a sleepover with a friend from Tucson (Abby) that has moved up here too. They are a year apart but get along very well. They played Friday afternoon and we had pizza for dinner followed by Happy Birthday cupcakes. Then we all settled down in the family room for popcorn and a movie. The kids stayed up late and had a good time. Best of all nobody got sick from all of the junk food.

Yummy Frosting!

Late Night Movie
(This picture was apparently taken during a really intense scene of "The Wild" but luckily nobody had any nightmares of dancing wildebeasts.)

A little girl......

This is a little girl eating a tortilla, holding up a dress that was bought at the store for Easter.

Those are the legs of the little girl who screamed and cried because she hated the dress bought at the store for Easter.

I am the mom who saddened returned the adorable dress after the screaming and crying to the store for Easter.

I am also the mom who has given up and knows not to buy ever again anything frilly at the store for Easter.

For I am the mom whose little girl wore a slate green dress with orange socks and black clogs to church today two weeks before Easter.

Coming along.....

The house is coming along to a point where I thought I'd post a picture. We hope it is finished early but is still on schedule for the end of June. I already have a really long list of projects for us to start when we move in. I guess we should enjoy the time we have without home maintenance/improvement filling our Saturdays before then. My parents and grandfather move up here on Thursday. They will be renting also for awhile a few miles away. Other than that we are loving the mild weather and spend time outside everyday to keep Brayden sane (which keeps me sane.)

Fresh and Clean

The kids have been cranky and/or sick lately so I haven't been taking pictures. Anyway this is after baths last week. I love the show Everybody Loves Raymond. On the show he says that life with kids is kind of like living at a frat house, nobody sleeps and there is a lot of throwing up. We had a great "frat" party last weekend.

Brayden loves to serenade us while tickling the ivorys. He has always had an interest in the piano. It was his Everest and he conquered it at an early age, literally. Brayden had some blood work done a couple of weeks ago. He was crazy brave. He just sat there and watched the nurse draw blood from his arm. He didn't flinch or cry. I was about ready to pass out because I am such a whimp and had to close my eyes. That test was also inconclusive. He is still our wild and crazy polka dot boy.

Fat Ducks

There is a little stream up the street that has a little area with a bridge where ducks congregate. Hailey has been wanting to go feed the ducks. We tried today but they were full. Two families were just leaving with a bunch of empty bread bags as we arrived. We would even hit the ducks in the head with some bread and they still weren't interested. Luckily some birds came around and Hailey fed them. We soon left after a close encounter with a very large water rat. Hailey did not want to pose for a picture.

Once there was a snowman....

We built our first snowman on Monday. We were short on a carrot and coal so we used carrot chips, wood chips, and a yellow zucchini. It looks kind of funny because all of the snow has melted in the yards of the houses on the other side of the street. Our house faces north so it takes a long time for the snow to melt. Hailey asked in her prayers Monday night that the snowman would not melt. He has shrunk a little bit is still standing. His face keeps falling off though with the 50 degree weather we had today.

Hanging Out

We had family and friends visiting this weekend and on Sunday afternoon the kids took some time (2 minutes) to relax.

Looking Cool

Brayden has discovered Hailey's array of sunglasses. We might have to get him some that are a little more manly.
