Our Town

Hailey received a karaoke machine for Chrismas this year. The three CD's she has are HS Musical 1 & 2 and Cars. This morning she was listening to the cars music while just reading the lyrics on the screen. Here are some of the lyrics to Our Town:

Long ago
But not so very long ago
The world was different
Oh yes, it was
You settled down
And you built a town
And made it live
And you watched it grow
It was your town
Time goes by
And time brings changes
And you change too
Nothing else comes you can't handle
So on you go
You never see it coming
When the world caves in on you
On your town
Theres nothing you can do

Hailey came to me and said that her town was Tucson and she wanted to know when we were going to go back again. Hailey and I took a short trip back in December and I think it made things worse. It broke her heart when we moved over a year ago and she still is getting over it. She still asks why we had to move. Sometimes, like this morning, I feel like I am breaking it all over again regardless of the fact that she has more friends and family here than there. It doesn't help that her dad is there again on business for the 7th or so time. I no longer subscribe to the fact that kids (especially Hailey) will not remember this or that because they are little. It is amazing the impact of the first 4 1/2 years of her life.

Aww... how sad! You should've done what I did in Lincoln-- not go to any playgroups or social events..:) Kira had no "real" friends and consequently has never mentioned our last "home."

I keep checking your blog in hopes for a baby announcement. When is your c-section scheduled?? I have just under 6 long weeks to go until mine... :(

The C-Section is scheduled for the 28th. I think we are still in a little bit of denial. I really do need to buy a car seat.

Anna had a hard time leaving Tucson--talked about how she wanted to go back to "our house" for a long time. She even told me that she was going to go back and buy that house when she got older so she could live there again. Now as the possibility of leaving Baltimore looms, she is protesting that. She wants to live here forever--unless her best friend Sydney can come with us!
